Interpreting Ceramics was launched in 2000 by a group of academic staff in the UK who had come together to form the Interpreting Ceramics Research Collaboration (ICRC).

In 2016, after much careful consideration, the editorial committee decided they were not able to continue with regular production of Interpreting Ceramics. ICRC would like to thank all those individuals and institutions that have supported the journal since its inception. In particular we wish to recognise the considerable investment of the four universities involved: Aberystwyth University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Bath Spa University and the University of the West of England, Bristol. Without their commitment, through staff time as well as through financial support, the publication of Interpreting Ceramics would not have been possible.

We are also grateful to the members of our Editorial Advisory Board for their work in reviewing articles submitted for possible publication and for the other ways in which they have supported Interpreting Ceramics, for example through their help in suggesting or generating content and guest-editing specific issues of the journal.

Lastly we wish to thank our readership throughout the world, many of whom have told us how much they have appreciated free access to a truly international journal that has provided such a rich range of high quality articles.

Members of the editorial committee will seek to ensure that the substantial Interpreting Ceramics digital archive continues to be freely available as an open access research resource.

Finally, if you, as an individual or on behalf of an institution anywhere in the world, wish to register an interest in participating in the relaunch of Interpreting Ceramics in some form then please contact us at interpretingceramics@gmail.com
